Let me start this review by stating something that may not be important to you, but it is to me. I have a milk chocolate skin tone. That means I either match or am close to a Hershey bar (I use to match it but now I’m a tad bit lighter than it). I also have gold undertones. That being said, sometimes makeup and/or hairstyles that would look amazing on other people with pale or very dark skin would look kinda blah on me. When it comes to dark makeup, it’s a touch and go.
Do you know how frustrating to see someone rock a shade you want? I get all up in my feels sometimes.
I’ve been trying to find the elusive Transylvania shade by NYX while I was in ULTA recently. Of course, it was sold out since it’s a very popular shade (If you find it, you’re one lucky bih).
I didn’t want to leave with just nothing since I went out of my way to go to ULTA to begin with. Overwhelmed with a plethora of choices, I decided to go bold for once and try something that took me out of my comfort zone.
Enter the Black Cherry Tart.
It’s dark. It’s a deep burgundy. It’s a tad dangerous and vampy. Me likey.
I’m not a fan of the actual application stick. Maybe I got a bad one, but it was just not as smooth as the other ones I have. But that’s beside the point. Here’s me, giving good face:
So it goes on smooth (beside the applicator stick) and it stays put. It’s thick. It’s not sticky nor does it smell and most importantly, it doesn’t bleed on my teeth.
The transformation within my spirit, though…I felt like this on the way home:
And a bit of this…
And maybe a little bit of this:
(I think we all have a little Bey and Rih within us. This is a pro-Bey and Rih zone so keep your Anti-Bey and Rih bullshit on silent. Please and thank you.)
Now I’m not sure if NYX will have the same effect on you but hell, give it a try. They have so many shades. I mean so many that there’s a shade for everybody, every skin tone, every type. More NYX lip color reviews to come in the future!
